Information Theory and coding is one area where much research is currently envisaged. Particularly trellis coding and turbo coding coupled with steganography (Cryptography) has found to be quite interesting for security in transmission of information. This book is mainly intended to make the reader familiar with the fundamental concepts of probability theory. information theory and error control coding. The book Information theory and coding was first released in 2005. Before this a book with the same title was released in 2001 which was without probability theory. The first book by the author was titled "Probability. Information and Coding Theory" released in 1992 was more popular among students and teachers. This book was prescribed as Text book by Bangalore, Karnataka and Gulbarga Universities. The present book covers the entire syllabus of 5th semester ECE/TCE course 'Information Theory and Coding' (ITC) of VTU, Karnataka. It also covers more than 80% of the syllabus prescribed for M. Tech. (Digital Electronics) and other M. Tech. programs (Coding Theory and Error Control Coding) of VTU.

D. from Indian Institute of Science in 1987. He joined BMS College of Engineering in 1975 and served there continuously for over 34 years without any break. Then he was Principal RRIT. Bcngaluru , Principal at City Engineering College. Bengaluru , Professor & HOD at RRCE. Bengaluru and Professor. PG Studies (Signal Processing) at Cambridge Institute of Technology. Bengaluru.
